CODY CHOI


1980년대 중반부터 작가이자 문화이론가로서 활동해온 코디최(b.1961)는 현대사회의 문화정체성과 권력관계에 대하여 탐구한다. 그는 회화, 조각, 설치 등의 작업을 통하여 현시대의 다양한 문화가 빚어내는 충돌과 그 간극에서 탄생한 제3의 문화 혹은 혼종문화, 그리고 끊임없이 탄생하는 동시대 새로운 사회현상에 대하여 주목한다. 그는 Art Center College of Design을 졸업하였으며, 57th Venice Biennale, Korean Pavilion 및 Kunsthalle Düsseldorf, Musée d’Art Contemporain de Marseille, Kunstsammlungen-chemnitz 등지에서 유럽순회 회고전을 개최하며 작품성을 크게 인정받았다. “20세기 문화 지형도(2010)”, “동시대 문화 지형도(2010)” 등 현대문화에 관한 전문비평서를 출간한 바 있다.
