함진(b.1978)은 벌레나 알약, 손톱 등 주변에 버려진 작은 오브제 및 합성점토를 이용하여 정교하고 환상적인 작품세계를 주조해낸다. 바늘이나 이쑤시개와 같은 일상용품들을 도구삼아 작가는 독특한 내러티브와 상상력을 응축시킨 그만의 소우주를 선보인다. 쉽게 지나치던 일상의 사물과 공간에 새로운 리얼리티를 불어넣는 함진 특유의 유머와 그로테스크함은 관객들의 시각을 매료시키는 데 손색이 없다. 작가는 Fundament Foundation(Netherlands Tilburg), Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain(Paris), Espace Louis Vuitton(Paris), Minsheng Art Museum(Shanghai), Mori Museum, 로댕갤러리(현 플라토) 등 국제적 미술기관에서 전시를 개최하였으며, 2013년 두산갤러리 레지던시 프로그램에 참여하는 등 활발한 활동을 이어가고 있다.
