LEE BUL


1980년대 후반부터 현대미술계를 선두하는 대표작가로 자리매김한 이불(b.1964)의 작업은 날카로운 사회비판과 역사의식, 유토피아에 관한 인본주의적 탐구 속에 개인적 내러티브를 투영시킨다. 강렬하고 파격적인 그녀의 작업은 퍼포먼스, 조각, 설치, 회화, 드로잉, 그리고 영상에 이르기까지 여러 가지 매체로 시각화된다. 작가는 홍익대학교에서 조각을 전공하였으며, Musée d'art moderne Grand-Duc Jean(Luxembourg)와 Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain(Paris), MoMA, New Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art(Sydney) 등 세계 정상급의 미술기관에서 개인전을 개최하였다. 특히 2012년 아시아 여성작가 최초로 Mori Museum에서 가진 대규모 회고전은 동시대 최고작가로서의 작가의 위용을 증명한 전시다. 이불은 1998년 휴고보스상 최종후보로 선정되었고, 제48회 베니스비엔날레 특별상, 석주미술상, 김세중조각상 등을 수상하였다. 그녀의 작품은 가나자와 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, LA MoCA, 삼성미술관 리움, 아트선재센터 등에 소장되어 있다.
