이누리(b.1977)는 잡지, 광고, 영화 등 매스미디어에 노출된 화려하고 강박적인 이미지들을 왜곡과 유기적인 패턴을 가미하여 재탄생시킨다. 그의 화면에는 건축물의 외관이나 인테리어 같은 사실적 이미지와 선, 물감의 텍스처, 무늬 등의 회화적 이미지가 병치되고, 사물과 인물이 배제된 정적인 공간 구조와 역동적인 제스처가 혼성되며, 종국에는 현대인의 심리적 불안과 긴장감이 우회적으로 드러난다. 작가는 바젤과 프랑크푸르트에서 수학했으며, 주요 개인전 및 단체전을 바젤란트 미술관, 빈 미술관, 파리국제예술공동체, 프라이부르크 미술협회 등지에서 개최했다. 2007년 켄트레이드 문화재단 예술상을 수상한 바 있다. 현재 한국과 스위스를 오가며 활동 중이다.
Noori Lee(b.1977) reinvents extravagant images from various mass media such as magazines, advertisements, or movies through distorting them and adding on organic patterns. In Lee’s paintings, photo-realistic images of interior and exterior of buildings are juxtaposed with pictorial elements such as line, texture, and patterns. Images of static space without any trace of people or objects are combined with dynamic gestures, conveying the psychological anxiety and apprehension of the people nowadays. Lee is a self-taught who studied in Basel and Frankfurt and held major solo and group exhibitions at Kunsthaus Baselland (Basel, Switzerland), Kunsthalle Wien (Wien, Austria), Cité Internationale des Arts (Paris, France), and Kunstverein Freiburg (Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany). In 2007, he was awarded the Kunstpreis der Cantrade Kulturstiftung. Lee currently works back and forth in Korea and Switzerland.
