SANGGIL KIM


김상길(b.1974)은 대구 예술대학교 사진학과와 중앙대학교 사진학과 대학원을 졸업하였다. 반복적인 일상의 순간이나 사물의 특정부분에 대하여 지속적인 관찰의 시선을 던지는 작가는 익숙하던 삶의 이미지들을 기이하고 낯선 풍경으로 대치시킨다. 영화 혹은 광고 속 이미지들을 재연한 ‘모션 픽처’ 연작, 인터넷 동호회 회원들을 오프라인 공간에 초대하여 단체사진으로 촬영한 ‘오프라인 커뮤니티’ 연작, 그리고 텅빈 사무실이나 인적이 없는 주차장처럼 본래의 기능을 상실한 공간을 담아낸 ‘re-mode-1’ 연작 등 작가는 인물, 풍경, 다큐멘터리 등 사진의 거의 모든 소재와 장르를 넘나들며 현대인의 동질화된 일상 속에서 연극적 미학을 발견하고자 한다. 그는 De Appel arts centre(Amsterdam), Museum of Fine Arts(Houston), 서울시립미술관, 삼성미술관 리움 등 유수의 미술기관에서 전시를 개최하였으며, 한국 사진비평가상, 쌈지스튜디오상, 한국문화예술진흥원 젊은작가상을 수상한 바 있다. 그의 작품은 Museum der Kulturen(Basel), Santa Barbara Museum of Art, 국립현대미술관, 삼성미술관 리움 등에 소장되어 있다.
