THOMAS DEMAND


뮌헨 태생의 토마스 데만트(b.1964)는 뮌헨 조형예술아카데미(Academy of Fine Arts)와 뒤셀도르프 쿤스트아카데미(Kunst Akademie), 런던 골드스미스대학(Goldsmiths College)에서 수학하였으며, 독일에서 거주하며 작업한다. 대중매체에서 접한 공간의 이미지를 종이를 이용한 실물사이즈의 모형으로 제작한 후, 이를 사진으로 남기는 데만트의 작업은 실재와 가상의 경계가 모호해진 현대사회 내 재현의 이슈에 대하여 탐구한다. 작가는 MoMA, Pompidou Centre, Fondation Cartier pour l'art contemporain 등 세계 정상급 미술기관에서 개인전을 개최하였으며, 그의 작품은 MoMA, Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Tate Modern Collection 등에 소장되어 있다.
