PKM画廊将荣幸举办，中国当代艺术知名的画家—陈文波新作展览。近两年来首次做个人展示的《亚洲光线》，是来源于陈文波近期在不同亚洲中心城市拍摄的图片。新作品是对过去五年形成的照相写实风格城市静物画的延伸和发展。用近乎沃霍尔的处理方式，赋予绘画事物强大的符号力量凸显这些事物在当代亚洲社会的商品化过程。他的作品被策展人和评论人黄笃权威地比喻成是一个扩展的词典：画家《不断给其中添加新的东西，这个过程既有联系又有区别，既有对政治经济的分析，也有对日常生活的解读》。这次展示的作品，陈文波运用了全新的主题和很久未用的大幅创作形式。
在陈文波的作品里完全没有人物形式（也并非抽象形式）所以使他近期的作品风格有别于大部分的中国当代画家。这些新作验证了他的技巧和独特的对鲜艳、明亮、当代色彩的运用，并使用他以往很少沿用的蓝色和紫色色调。他巧妙地隐瞒了画家绘画痕迹，用一种高度写实式体现了城市夜晚灯光的效果。
陈文波1969年出生于中国四川省。他的作品曾在爱尔兰《e v+ a》展览（2008）, 北京尤伦斯当代艺术中心（2008）和东京森美术馆（2005）等超过15个国家的美术馆和各种展览中做过个展和联展展出。

PKM GALLERY is pleased to present "Asian Rays", an exhibition of new works by Chen Wenbo, who is one of the most recognized painters in Chinese contemporary art. The images in "Asian Rays", Chen Wenbo's first solo show in two years, are based on photographs taken by the artist during his recent travels through various Asian urban centers. The new works in this exhibition are a further extension of the artist's signature photorealist style paintings that can be characterized as urban still-lifes which he has been continuously developing over the past five years. In an almost a Warhol-esque approach, Chen paints objects with great symbolic power, zoning in on the object commodification in contemporary Asian society. His body of work has been aptly described by the curator and critic Huang Du as an expanding dictionary to which the artist is "continually adding new entries – a process of both making connections and differentiation; it's both a political –economic analysis and a reading of everyday life." In this exhibition, Chen works with all new subjects and large formats which he has not used for some time.
Chen Wenbo's recent works stand apart from those of most Chinese painters in that they are completely void of the human form (nor is it abstract). These new works pay testament to the artist's technical skill and unique use of vibrant, bright, and cool colors. They are mostly dominated by blue and purple tones – departing from the primary color palette the artist has frequently used in his previous works. Chen Wenbo's paintings, which deny the existence of the painter's hand, capture the effects of nighttime city light in an almost hyper-realist way.
Chen Wenbo was born in Sichuan, China in 1969. His work has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions and group shows in over 15 countries at institutions and events including the "e v+ a 2008 Exhibition" in Limerick, Ireland (2008), the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing (2008), and the Mori Art Museum in Tokyo (2005).
피케이엠 갤러리 베이징은 가장 인정받는 중국현대미술 화가 중 하나인 첸원보의 신작 개인전 "ASIAN RAYS"를 개최한다. 2년 여만에 갖는 개인전 "ASIAN RAYS"에서는 작가가 최근 아시아의 여러 도시를 여행하며 찍은 사진들을 바탕으로한 작품들을 소개한다. 이번 신작들은 지난 5년간 지속적으로 전개해 온 첸웬보 특유의 포토리얼리즘적 스타일을 통해 도시적 풍경과 정물을 그려낸다. 앤디워홀을 연상시키듯, 작가는 아시아 현대사회에서의 물질적 상품화에 주목하고 이를 상징적으로 묘사한다. 중국의 큐레이터 겸 비평가 황두는 그의 작품에 대해 "끝없이 이어져가는 하나의 어록으로서 작가가 지속적으로 새로운 목록을 더해가는 일상에 대한 경제적, 정치적인 탐구" 라고 표현했다. 이번 전시에서는 작가가 그동안 시도하지 않았던 큰 규모의 작품들과 새로운 소재들이 선보인다.
첸웬보의 최근 작품에는 인물의 묘사가 배재된다는 점에서 다른 중국 동시대 화가들과 차별된다. 이번 신작들 역시 그러한 작가만의 독창적인 소재와 테크닉, 화려하고 밝은 색감을 보여준다. 특히 이번 전시 작품들에는 이전에 주로 사용되었던 원색과는 달리 남색과 보라색의 차가운 색조가 주를 이룬다. 마치 사진과 같이 매끄럽게 완성된 그의 캔버스들은 도심의 밤빛과 풍경을 효과적인 초리일리즘으로 재현한다.
