스웨덴 스톡홀름의 모더나 뮤지엄(Moderna Museet) 외벽에 카스텐 횔러의 대형 신작이 설치되었습니다.
모더나 뮤지엄 소장품의 일환으로 설치된 〈Stockholm Slides〉는 미술관 지붕에서 바닷가 길인 슬룹스퀼스바겐까지 이어지는 약 39미터 길이의 두 개 나선형 미끄럼틀로 구성됩니다. 두 명이 동시에 거울처럼 반대 방향으로 미끄러지며, 단순한 놀이를 넘어 신체와 감각, 그리고 감정의 역학을 동시에 자극합니다. 횔러는 이 경험을 ‘통제된 낙하, 맑은 의식 속에서 찾아오는 관능적인 공포’라고 표현합니다. 이번 신작은 관람객이 직접 체험하며 “미술관 경험이 무엇이 될 수 있는지”를 새롭게 정의합니다.

As part of the Moderna Museet Collection, 𝘚𝘵𝘰𝘤𝘬𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘮 𝘚𝘭𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 consists of two parallel, spiral slides that run from the museum’s roof, down to Slupskjulsvägen. Two people can ride at the same time, as in a mirrored choreography. The downward movement that the rider finds themselves in not only activates the body, but also triggers an emotional and cognitive dynamic: When we give in to gravity, a regulated state of loss of control is created where strong emotions such as fear and delight coexist. Höller describes the experience of riding the slide as a controlled fall, a state of “voluptuous panic upon an otherwise lucid mind”. This new work once again redefines “what a museum experience can be”, inviting the audience to take part directly.
