잊힌 과거의 흔적을 통해 한국 근현대사 속 개인의 실존과 운명에 주목하며, 지난날의 정신적 가치들을 상기하는 것에 집중해온 조덕현 작가의 개인전《110 and: Horizon 지평》이 익산 소재의 춘포도정공장에서 열리고 있습니다.
110년 전에 지어진 대규모 도정공장을 개조한 춘포도정공장은
역사적 격변기의 방대한 시간을 담아내며, 전시는 해당 공간의 특성에 대한 이해와 존중으로부터 비롯됩니다. 공간과 교차하는 작품은 만남과 사건을 현재로 불러오는 작업으로 연계되거나, 대립하는 삶과 판단에 대한 고찰을 이어갑니다.
조덕현 작가는 본 전시에서 대척지, 관음보살상, 백제 등으로 제시되는 표상들이 교차하는 아스라한 '지평'에서부터 떠오르는 무한한 상념과 상상을 다양하게 변주합니다. 우리의 '현재'를 구성하고 있는 '깨달음'의 단편과 그로부터 비롯된 인식과 판단을 근원적이고 거시적인 관점을 통해서 삶을 절망으로 이끄는 갈등을 마주하기를 제안합니다. 전시는 2025년 4월 24일까지.
110 and: Horizon 지평 by Cho Duck Hyun, who has focused on recalling the spiritual values of the past, paying attention to the existence and fate of individuals in modern and contemporary Korean history through traces of the forgotten past, is being held at the Chunpo Provincial Factory in Iksan.
The Old Mill Chunpo, which transformed a large-scale rice mill built 110 years ago containing the vast amount of time in the historical upheaval, the exhibition stems from an understanding and respect for the characteristics of the space. Works that intersect with space are linked to tasks that bring encounters and events to the present, or It continues to consider life and judgment that are linked to work or confront each other.
In this exhibition, artist Cho Duck Hyun makes various variations on the infinite number of thoughts and imaginations that emerge from the aslahan 'horizontal' where the representations presented as opposite point, Avalokitesvara statue, and Baekje intersect. It is suggested to face the conflict that leads life to despair through a fundamental and macroscopic perspective on the short story of 'realization' that constitutes our 'present' and the perceptions and judgments that result from it. The exhibition runs until April 24, 2025.
