정현 작가가 서소문성지 역사박물관 특별기획전 «THE FACE: 마주하다»에 참여합니다. 본 전시는 2026년 한불수교 140주년이라는 역사적 의미를 바탕으로, 한국과 프랑스를 잇는 예술적 접점을 지닌 세 작가의 작품을 통해, 인간 존재에 대한 보편적 질문을 되새깁니다.
정현(b.1956)은 브론즈, 석고, 침목, 철, 콜타르 등 시간의 흔적을 품은 재료를 사용해 그 안에 축적된 시간과 인간의 삶을 조형적으로 풀어내는 작업을 이어오고 있습니다. 그의 작업은 말로 다 담기 이전의 복합적인 심리의 층위를 품고 있으며, 이러한 이유로 그의 작품에는 ‹무제(Untitled)›라는 제목이 자주 등장합니다. 이번 전시에서는 정현 작가가 90년대 초반부터 작업해 온 조각과 드로잉 작품 약 30점을 한자리에서 만나볼 수 있습니다. 전시는 9월 6일까지.
CHUNG, Hyun is participating in 𝘛𝘏𝘌 𝘍𝘈𝘊𝘌: 𝘌𝘯𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳, a special exhibition at Seosomun Shrine History Museum. Marking the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and France, the exhibition brings together the works of three artists whose artistic practices are closely connected to both countries, reflecting on universal questions of human existence.
CHUNG, Hyun (b.1956) has long explored the essence of human existence. Working with materials imbued with the traces of time—including bronze, plaster, railroad ties, iron, and coal tar—he transforms accumulated time and lived experience into sculptural form. His works embody complex psychological layers that cannot be fully articulated through language, which is why many of them bear the title 𝘜𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘥. The exhibition features approximately 30 sculptures and drawings that CHUNG has created since the early 1990s, offering a broad view of his artistic practice. On view through September 6.
