현대미술의 거장 故 윤형근 화백의 영국 내 미술관에서의 첫 개인전 ≪YUN HYONG-KEUN≫이 영국 헤이스팅스 컨템포러리에서 개최되었습니다.
이번 전시는 2019년 베니스 비엔날레 기간, 포투니 미술관에서 가졌던 기념비적인 회고전에 이어 4년여만에 유럽 내 미술관 전시로 많은 주목을 받고 있습니다.
이번 개인전에는 1970년대의 수직선들이 주조를 이루는 초기 청색(blue)의 작품부터, 청색과 다색(umber), 두 색의 혼합 안료를 두어개의 직립한 기둥을 기백 넘치는 형태로 발전시키며 현대적 조형성을 획득한 천지문 구도의 작품까지, 테이트 갤러리의 소장작 1점과 국립현대미술관의 소장작 2점을 포함한 12점이 엄선되어 공개됩니다. 전시는 10월 1일까지.
We are delighted to announce the UK’s first ever public gallery solo exhibition of Yun Hyong-keun, one of the leading figures of Korean modern art, is now on show at Hastings Contemporary. Since the retrospective held at Palazzo Fortuny during the 2019 Venice Biennale, it has been more than four years that Yun’s works have been exhibited at art museums in Europe.
YUN HYONG-KEUN presents a selection of Yun's blue paintings from the early 1970s and further explores the unique Cheonjimun (Gate of Heaven and Earth) composition throughout his oeuvre. Creating a bold and powerful gate composition of 2-3 columns painted with a mixture of umber and blue, Yun develops and at last achieves his own modernity. 12 works, including one from the Tate Collection and two from the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Collection, have been carefully selected to represent the essence of the master’s artistic career. YUN HYONG-KEUN runs until October 1st.
