PKM 갤러리는 프리즈 서울 2026에서 한국 현대미술의 거장부터 국내외에서 활발히 활동하는 동시대 작가에 이르기까지 12인의 주요 작품과 신작을 선보인다. 이번 프레젠테이션에는 윤형근, 유영국, 올라퍼 엘리아슨, 구정아, 이근민, 서승원, 정현, 이정진, 홍영인, 정영도, 이원우, 샘바이펜이 참여한다.
단색화의 거장 윤형근은 1970년대부터 1990년대에 걸친 대표작을, 한국 추상 회화의 선구자 유영국은 1970년대와 1990년대의 주요 회화를 선보인다. 윤형근은 PKM 갤러리 개인전 «윤형근을 다시 상상하다»의 개막과 실제 거주하며 작업했던 «윤형근의 집»의 개관을 앞두고 있다. 유영국은 현재 서울시립미술관에서 탄생 110주년 기념 회고전을 진행 중이며, 오는 10월 윤형근과 함께 SFMOMA에서 소개될 예정이다.
이번 프리즈 서울에서 특히 주목할 작품은 올라퍼 엘리아슨의 대형 신작 ‹The surprising yet predictable phenomena of matter taking matter into its own hands›이다. 작가는 2018년부터 탐구해 온 렌즈 플레어(lens flare)의 시각적 패턴을 활용해 빛과 지각의 관계를 다룬 신작을 완성했다.
구정아는 오는 9월 리움미술관 개인전을 앞두고 ‹강세 Y› 시리즈의 새로운 에디션을 공개한다. 2026년 PKM 갤러리에서 첫 개인전을 개최한 이근민은 직접 겪은 경험과 환각에서 출발한 파편화된 형상의 신작 페인팅을 출품한다. 기하 추상과 한국적 조형미를 탐구해 온 서승원, 인간 존재의 본질을 탐구해 온 정현의 주요 작품도 이번 프레젠테이션에 포함된다. 서승원은 동시성(Simultaneity) 작품을, 정현은 그의 작업 활동 초기에 제작한 브론즈 인체상과 2026년 신작 드로잉으로 함께한다.
한편, 지난 4월 PKM 갤러리 전관에서 개인전 «Unseen/Thing»을 개최한 이정진은 아이슬란드의 풍경에서 출발한 ‹Unseen› 시리즈를 출품한다. 이 시리즈는 2025년 영국 『더 가디언』에서 별점 4점을 받은 바 있다. 홍영인은 지난 6월 아트 바젤에서 솔로 프레젠테이션을 선보인 데 이어, 이번 프리즈 서울에서는 역사에서 소외되어 온 동물과 자연 등의 존재를 다룬 수공예 작품을 선보인다. 아울러 오는 10월 PKM 갤러리에서 개인전을 앞두고 있는 정영도의 회화 작품과 함께 일상의 환기와 위트를 담은 이원우의 ‹Air Words› 시리즈, 대중문화와 고전 회화를 결합한 샘바이펜의 캐릭터 도상 작업도 이번 프레젠테이션의 주요 출품작에 포함된다.
PKM Gallery is pleased to present a presentation of key works and new pieces by 12 artists at Frieze Seoul 2026, bringing together masters of Korean contemporary art and artists actively working in Korea and internationally. The presentation features Yun Hyong-keun, Yoo Youngkuk, Olafur Eliasson, Koo Jeong A, Keunmin Lee, Suh Seung-Won, CHUNG, Hyun, Jungjin Lee, Young In Hong, Young Do Jeong, Wonwoo Lee, and SAMBYPEN.
Yun Hyong-keun, a master of Dansaekhwa, is represented by signature works spanning the 1970s to the 1990s, while Yoo Youngkuk, a pioneer of Korean abstract painting, is presented through major paintings from the 1970s and 1990s. Yun’s presentation coincides with the opening of his solo exhibition reimagine Yun Hyong-keun at PKM Gallery and Yun Hyong-keun House, the home where he lived and worked. Yoo is currently the subject of a retrospective at the Seoul Museum of Art marking the 110th anniversary of his birth and will be featured alongside Yun at SFMOMA this October.
One of the highlights of this year’s Frieze Seoul is Olafur Eliasson’s large-scale new work, The surprising yet predictable phenomena of matter taking matter into its own hands. Drawing on the visual patterns of lens flares, which the artist has explored since 2018, the work examines the relationship between light and perception.
Koo Jeong A, who is set to present a solo exhibition at Leeum Museum of Art this September, unveils a new edition from her SpSt Y series. Keunmin Lee, who held his first solo exhibition at PKM Gallery in 2026, presents new paintings featuring fragmented forms drawn from his personal experiences and hallucinations. The presentation also includes works by Suh Seung-Won, who has explored geometric abstraction and Korean formal aesthetics, and CHUNG, Hyun, whose practice examines the essence of human existence. Suh is represented by works from his Simultaneity series, while CHUNG is represented by a bronze figure made early in his artistic career, alongside a new drawing from 2026.
Jungjin Lee, who held the solo exhibition Unseen/Thing at PKM Gallery in April, presents works from his Unseen series, inspired by the landscapes of Iceland. The series received a four-star review from The Guardian in 2025. Following her solo presentation at Art Basel in June, Young In Hong presents handcrafted works exploring animals, nature, and other beings that have been marginalized throughout history.
The presentation also includes paintings by Young Do Jeong, who is set to hold a solo exhibition at PKM Gallery this October, Wonwoo Lee’s Air Words series, which brings a sense of renewal and wit to everyday life, and SAMBYPEN’s character-based works, which combine popular culture with imagery from classical painting.
