박찬경(b.1965)은 영화와 다큐멘터리, 사진, 설치를 망라하는 다양한 작업을 선보인다. 서울대학교 회화과와 캘리포니아 인스티튜트 오브디아츠(California Institute of the Arts) 대학원에서 사진학을 전공한 작가는 현시대 정치사회적 이슈를 작업 속에 재맥락화하며 대립되는 가치의 이질적 간극 간의 융합을 시도한다. 특히 2005년 발표한 영상작품 은 2000년 실현되었던 남북정상회담 당시의 촬영기록을 입수하여 13분의 영상으로 편집한 작품으로, 한국의 분단현실을 상기시키고 화합의 가능성을 염원한 작업이다. 작가는 De Appel arts centre(Amsterdam), Kunstverein(Frankfurt), Akademie Schloss Solitude(Stuttgart) 등지에서 전시를 개최하였으며, 한국의 에르메스재단 미술상, 전주 국제영화제 한국 장편경쟁 대상, Berlin Film Festival 단편영화 부문상 등을 수상하였다. 저서로는 “독일로 간 사람들(2003)”이 있으며, 그의 작품은 Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes와 삼성미술관 리움, 서울시립미술관, 경기도미술관 등에 소장되어 있다.
